TRiBAL CONCOCTiON

Etro's Spring 2008 collection is one of my favorite collections for Spring 2008. The theme of the collection seemed like a tribal theme overall but with a mixture of different styles. The styles that are incorporated are edgy, preppy, bohemian, and sporty. I love this collection because these are things that I would wear. None of these outfits are too costumey. The shoes and accessories are to die for; they are very ethnic but stylish. The different patterns in the outfits distinguishes it as tribal style and makes the outfit as a whole pop. Here are some of the highlights from the show.

FOLK TALES

In Fall 2008, Anna Sui showed a collection that seemed folk inspired. I love the collection because it gives me a real folk feel. I adore the colors, patterns, and accessories which completes each and every look. The two accessories I fancy the most are the pattern tights and the wrap around headbands. I feel they bring the outfits out, they make it more folk based. Here are my favorite outfits from the collection.

LV SAFARi

I was so inspired by the Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 RTW collection. The safari theme was communicated well. As soon as I saw the 1st garment I knew what was about to happen. The colors made it that much more interesting. There were a lot of sunny colors like gold, yellow and orange; the deep reds were luscious; and the blues, greens, tans and browns brought an earthy effect. The feathers, thick beads and leopard print made me feel like I was in a safari in Africa and I felt like that was the message Marc Jacobs was trying to get across. Here are some photos from the show.

WHO SAiD THEY DONT FEED MODELS?

In Jeremy Scott's Fall 2006 Ready to Wear collection (which is called food fight) there is plenty of food on the runway. Each of his pieces contains some kind of junk food in it. How does cookies for earrings, donuts for bangles and eclairs for a necklace sound? I admire Jeremy Scott as a designer because he isn't afraid to take risks and he has such fresh and funky ideas, even though they are more to make a statement not so for much wearing. Here is a preview of his Fall 2006 RTW collection.

ABOUT THE FASHiONiSTA BLOGS

A lot of people ask me where do I come up with my names for the different blog entries, and how do I come up with the different voacb and I am here to answer. The way I come up with names for my blog entries is just by finding the synonym to the topic I am talking about, most of the time. For example, Maillot Ballot, maillot is the fashion designer's name for a woman's one-piece swimsuit; Misfits are a synonym for bohemians; so on and so forth. But for others I just base the name of the blog entry on the topic of the entry. For example, Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto, is based on a robotic themed collection; LV³ is based on the Louis Vuitton Cube (hints the ³ sign). I just get creative with some of them. As for my vocabulary in the entries I use most of those words in my regular speech, but sometimes I get bored using the same words over and over so I just look up the synonyms for those words as well. I like to inform about fashion and help people expand their vocabulary. =) If anyone has anymore questions feel free to ask, I will surely answer.

MAiLLOT BALLOT

So, I was looking at swimwear fashion shows and I imagined, if I was going somewhere for exactly a week, which bathing suits would I bring. It took a long time for me to decide which where my absolute favorites and which I could do without. I chose only one pieces because I'm not a bikini person. Even though the summer is ending I felt it was necessary to show my top 7 favorite bathing suits. So this is my ode to the summer.

This bathing suit is by Alexander Wang from the Spring 2009 Ready to Wear collection. I love this bathing suit because it is not too revealing but it is still sexy. It is simple and sophisticated.

This bathing suit is by Emilio Pucci from the Spring 2009 Ready to wear collection. I love the color of the suit because it feels like a breath of fresh air. Its relaxing and its a dazzling color, it reminds me of a vacation. I also adore the twisted design in the middle its very swanky.

This suit is from the Barbie's 50th Anniversary Fall 2009 Ready to Wear collection. I would take this bathing suit with me because it would make me feel like a rock star. Little details like the across the shoulder strap and all the other straps across the stomach. This could be a nice bathing suit for someone who doesn't want to show much of their stomach or camouflage it.

This one piece is from the Chanel Spring 2009 Ready to Wear collection. This bathing suit is very plain but the material draws me in. When you combine the right accessories you can dress the suit up or down; make it glamorous or edgy. That's what I love about it.

This bathing suit is from the Michael Kors Resort 2010 collection. I adulate this bathing suit because it is so posh. I wouldn't even want to go in the water with this. You can totally pair a skirt or a some shorts with this suit and go out somewhere.

This bathing suit is by Gottex from the Spring 2006 Ready to wear collection. When I seen the front of the suit, I liked it, it wasn't so appealing as the others. But when I saw the back of it I loved it. The spider web design is so demiurgic and original I was astonished by it.

This bathing suit is by Herve Leger from the Spring 2009 Ready to wear collection. This is ma favorite bathing suit of them all. The style of the bathing suit is very chic, very modern. It seems a little futuristic too. The cut outs on the side make it extra risque, which makes it more appealing.

THE MiSFiTS

One style I am really enticed by is the Bohemian/Hippie -chic style. That style is so free spirited and unorthodox its liberating. Flowy floral skirts, flouncy dresses layered under baggy cardigans, printed scarves loosely wrapped, butter soft riding boots or leather gladiator sandals, colossal sized handbags, and funky accessories like bulky bangles or a braided wrap around headband. The I don't give a damn style drives me wild. There is nothing I do not love about Boho style. It can be elegant or laid back; you can wear it to the beach then straight to a night club after adding and removing some accessories and makeup. Here are some "boho-chic" savvy ladies.

Mischa Barton

Rachel Bilson

Mary Kate Olsen

iT'S A LOVE/HATE THiNG

So, I'm a big fan of chain shades since Amber Rose sported her vintage Chanel chain shades. Come to find out an accessory designer named Kerin Rose had made a pair of her own. The glasses are called A-Morir Love/Hate shades. I relish the fact that they are so stylish, so unique and so contemporary.

These A-Morir Love/Hate sunglasses were seen worn by one of Hollywood's blooming fashionistas, Rihanna, in black. I actually like the black shades best because they give more of rock n' roll, edgy effect.
